About this herb
Fenugreek Methi Seeds, Whole.
Fenugreek seed is a staple spice in Indian and Middle Eastern recipes and is also commonly eaten by hand before a meal to deter indigestion. Yemenites also traditionally eat fenugreek seeds at the first meal served during Rosh Hashana. The seed is also used to make Fenugreek tea.
Note: Fenugreek has a strong taste, similar to maple syrup. Use in small amounts to avoid overpowering other flavorings.
The caramel-like aromatic properties of the plant's leaves and seeds are due to a compound called sotolone, which is used as a flavoring agent in the production of artificial maple syrup.
Cosmetic use: Fenugreek seeds are infused to add fragrance to perfumes, soaps, and various other skincare products.
