About this herb

Broad Leaf Plantain herb.

Plantago major herb, also known as Greater plantain, Broadleaf plantain, Buckhorn plantain is a low-growing plant native to Europe, but is grows wildly worldwide, is considered a pesky weed for people who insist on maintaining a perfectly manicured lawn. Plantain has been used for centuries by Native Americans for many practical purposes, including an infusion made from boiled plantain leaf herb, comfrey, and yellow dock roots. Whether alone or in combination with other herbs, Plantago major is still used to make teas and infusions. The leaves of this little plant are abundant in vitamins A, C, B1 , K and several minerals, including calcium.

There are over 200 species of Plantain Herbs, of which Plantago major and Plantago lanceolata are the most common herbs. Plantago major darkens as it becomes dried. However, this does not change the quality (properties) of the herb. The herb that remains green after it is dried, is Plantago lanceolata. These two herbs have different benefits and differ in appearances as a dried herb. If you are accustomed to the green leaves, then you have probably been using lanceolate (narrow leaf) and not major (broad leaf).

Plantain tea: Dried Plantain leaves make a pleasant-tasting tea, however, its flavor is improved when blended with other herbs such as peppermint.

NOTE: This is the full herb and not the leaf.

I made a very large order for a lot of herbs because this shop offered all of the herbs I needed for a tea recipe. Each of them came individually packaged and I appreciate the option to choose organic or wildercrafted. For those who don’t know organic is grown, wildercrafted is harvested from nature. I also like being able to pick how much you get. Cause some herbs go bad after a while so make sure to store them in the freezer. My tea recipe is good for anemia, low iron, period stuff, PCOS, hormones, and liver health. Alfalfa leaf, Dandelion leaf, Red Raspberry Leaf, plantain leaf, nettle leaf, Calendula petals, ginger root, burdock root, dandelion root, sarsaparilla root, yellow dock root, and milk thistle seeds. Ground up your milk thistle seeds ( the amount needed), boil your roots, and steep your leaves and petals apart
